We are our ancestors’ wildest dreams, but what do we dream of? Thanks to Karla of Brooklyn Chunches, we can dream of a future where we combine traditional Salvadoran styles, textiles, and accessories with modern street and office wear. Inspired by her grandma, Mama Yolanda, Karla brings us little pieces of home to show off our heritage.
Karla Alegria Aguiar started Brooklyn Chunches in 2020 inspired by her late grandmother Mama Yolanda who sold her chunches in small mercados in San Salvador and at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge. Now Karla sells chunches in her online boutique store.
